I don't think that people really understand what tithing was all about in the Bible? It was to support the Levitical priest because they could not work so all the people's fruits, wheat, barley figs, etc we're given to them to support them. Also, animals that were given for sacrifice were given for their food as well. 10% had nothing to do with money because there was still money at that time. Abraham didn't give 10% of money, he gave 10% of the booty, goods that he seized from the war.
_______
AGAIN, people really need to read their Bibles because there is nothing requiring us to pay the church 10% of our money.
_______
The Bible tells us that we are to help the poor and needy, the widows and the orphans. not support the church with millions of dollars.
_______
Numbers 18:21–24: God assigns all tithes in Israel to the Levites as an inheritance for their service at the tent of meeting, stating they have no other land inheritance among the tribes.
_______
Numbers 18:26–28: The Levites are commanded to present a tenth of the tithe they receive ("a tithe of the tithe") as a heave offering to the Lord for the high priest.
_______
Leviticus 27:30–32: Establishes that a tenth of the land's grain, fruit, and herds is holy to the Lord.
_______
Deuteronomy 14:27–29: Directs that the tithe also be used locally to feed the Levites, strangers, orphans, and widows every third year.
_______
Nehemiah 10:37–38: Post-exile Israelites reaffirm the law, promising to bring grain, wine, oil, and a tithe of their land's crops to the Levites in the temple storerooms.
_______
Surveys show that only a small fraction of people who call themselves Christians have read the entire Bible from start to finish once, even less 2 or more times. This is how people are going to be let us pray, never let somebody tell you what the Bible says, read it for yourself over and over and each time you will understand a little more.
