Those of you who are Igbo but don’t know anything about Igbo culture should try and go home and learn your culture.First, Igbos don’t claim a child that is not theirs unless the man is not aware that the child isn’t his.Secondly, in a case like Mohbad’s, if it were an Igbo man and it was established that the child was not his biological son, that child would not inherit a dime from him unless the deceased’s family accepted the child as their own. Take note: accepting the child as their own is the family’s decision; it is not the culture that automatically decides it.And also, traditionally, any woman who gives birth to another man’s child while married has committed an abomination. The only exception would be where the husband knowingly accepts the child as his own, such as in a situation where he is unable to father a child himself. So, before speaking confidently about Igbo culture, those of you who are Igbo should first go home and learn your culture properly.
