Not gonna lie. It’s kinda handy. Chevy doesn’t put a drain plug on their trucks and after a long tow, I just want to change the oil and not the filter. Since the 10l80 is crap

Except boat engines don't see the same amount of wear the auto engines do. You don't really have a choice to drain out the bottom on in board engines, but that's the best way to do it.

Good for vehicles with top side filters but if it’s underneath might as well just do it all down there. Only real savings would be no new compression washer on the drain plug.

That’s because it’s a boat. You gonna do the driveshaft seals to the chassis? You gonna swap the antifreeze every year? You gonna fog the engine?

normal for changing oil in a small boat unless you special ordered a bottom drain tube and youll still have to pump it out

Just did this to an E4OD. It'll get a solinoid pack tomorrow. The POS doesn't have a drain plug. Also used to work at a boat shop. The largest seller of used PWC in the world.
