And here in Ireland 🇮🇪 when you end up in a nursing home, the government takes part of the value of your house to pay for it. This is after you work for 50 years paying taxes to them.

Japan have a good model of older person care, and they have a large aging population. People contribute to their own care during their working lifetime, sharing costs with the Government. Their culture is more respectful to older people, that mindset helps with overall care. NHS attitudes need to change along with private care. Staff generally have a poor work ethic, and if you hit them over the head with bedside manner they still would be none the wiser. Many institutions work hard under difficult conditions, but do not illicit a poor attitude. Their systems are over staffed with managers who constantly fail to manage staff properly. No discipline in the system, people need supervision. Fail to do this and you end up with human failings taking over, laziness, standards slip, short cuts, tasks fail to be completed, unprofessional treatment of patients and other staff. Get those things right and everyone would be happier, including the staff.

Worst job ive ever had. They charge £700 minimum per week to ignore you while you lie rotting for 5+ years kept alive only by medication so they can continue to drain your accountsr rather than let your children inherit it.

its so sad. No respect for the elderly. poor care after working all their lives. My mum has been my rock, I made her a promise that she will never go in a care home.

Not always. My mum needs 24 hour professional care, she takes antihistamines, nothing more. She reads, writes, and laughs all day. Homes are sometimes bad, especially WHEN BAD CHILDREN DON’T VISIT, THEN WONDER WHY THEIR PARENT IS SO MISERABLE!
