@danmalonemoney: Ranking every major debit card available in Ireland from S-Tier to F-Tier! 🇮🇪💳 Stop paying ridiculous monthly fees for basic banking tools. Here is the ultimate tier list breakdown: 🏆 S-TIER: Monzo – No monthly fee, fee-free FX spending, solid ATM allowances, and great budgeting tools. The new benchmark for Irish banking. ⭐ A-TIER: Revolut, N26, Trade Republic – Feature-packed, high interest on cash (TR), and great travel benefits. 🥈 B-TIER: Bunq, Trading 212 – Great budgeting & cashback, but held back by monthly costs or feature limits. 🥉 C/D-TIER: EBS, AIB, PTSB – High fees or outdated tech, though saved slightly by mortgage waivers or fee-free options. ⛔ F-TIER: Bank of Ireland – €6/month fee, clunky app, and high FX fees. Simply not worth it in 2026. Which card is currently sitting in your wallet? Did I rank your main bank too low? Drop your hot takes below! 👇 👉 Follow for more straightforward Irish money tips

Bank of Ireland Aer lingus card has free travel insurance when purchased on the card. Free flights, lounge access and fast pass. All add up to more than the fees

So if I close my current account in BOI and go to Monzo is my money safe? I’ve heard horror stories about issues with Revolut and no help or service.

I use PTSB because I have no fees for life with them. I have revolut because it's very handy for transfers and Monzo because you can three child accounts for free!

Have a legacy BOI premier joint account, we still get salaries paid into it but otherwise only use it for the airport lounge access and as a backup for Revolut. Use Revolut Metal for all day to day spending, have just had their premium plan until recently mainly for the savings on USD to euro transfers, but upgraded to metal recently as the extra Rev Points, subscriptions and savings rate increase more than pay for the increased fee. I still don't keep more than a few hundred at a time in Revolut current accounts though, have read too many horror stories of people being locked out of their account by Revolut or scammed and Revolut not reimbursing them. Signed up for Monzo too but haven't used it yet, must give it a go.
