@cp.obe: 🚨 PARENTS, I NEED YOUR ATTENTION 🚨 I’ve worked with young people for years, and I’m telling parents: pay attention to how your children are presenting themselves. Balaclavas and certain all black streetwear combinations don’t automatically mean a young person is in a gang or carrying a knife. We cannot label every child because of their clothes. But in certain environments, covering the face and dressing in a way associated with street or gang culture can attract the wrong attention and cause your child to be perceived very differently from how you know them at home. So parents, ask questions. Why are you wearing the balaclava? Who are you with? Where are you going? What are you carrying? Who are you becoming influenced by? Summer is here and September is around the corner. Don’t wait until the police, school or another parent tells you something you should have spotted earlier. Know your children. Know their friends. Know where they are. Check in with them and have those uncomfortable conversations. Clothing alone isn’t proof of criminality, but sudden changes in behaviour, secrecy, unexplained money or possessions, carrying weapons, disappearing for long periods and changes in friendship groups can be warning signs worth taking seriously. Prevention starts before something happens. Parents, what are YOU doing to keep your child safe? Help me make it make sense. 👇🏾 Awareness Notice: This post is for safeguarding, education and conversation. It does not suggest that clothing alone means a young person is involved in crime. #ParentsAttention #Safeguarding #YouthViolence #KnowYourChild #OurCommunity

I dont buy hoodies for my kids. The kids may be not even doing gang related things but Stereotyps are there where we like it or not.

you are very right bro, they simply might get mistaken to be in criminal gangs just because of the way they dress!!

Stop n Search begins at home, before the police do that. Be a responsible parent or guardian.

Any parent in here making an excuse such as “ i tell them but they don’t listen, or they get it from elsewhere” you are apart of the problem! You are the parent it’s your responsibility to make sure your child is listening . Already see ppl in the comments agreeing with this yet making statements like i try but they get it anyway

I went to Lidl yesterday, 2pm in the afternoon and passed 3 lads walking up the road. Nike tech, balaclavas covering everything but the eyes and gloves in 27c temperatures.

this is why parents should be held responsible for there child's actions. whatever it is. its your child. how you show them what is right and wrong from the start is how they turn out.

When I tell you people from our community hated the way I was with discipline. My son has never ever worn a track suit outside the house once he turned a teenager. I actually recall buying a suit ONCE as we had a 12 hour flight. You must be joking. 💯💯💯
