@itshannahzhang: Hiring an editor was one of the biggest unlocks in my creator business, but I went through quite a few before finding a setup that worked. If I were hiring again: 1. Define what good editing means for your content. Pull 3-5 of your best videos and write down what you like. 2. Give 3 candidates the same raw video as a paid test. Editing is subjective, so comparing the exact same footage makes the differences obvious. 3. Score more than technical skill: taste, ability to follow a brief, response to feedback, turnaround, and capacity at your real weekly volume. 4. Start with a short trial before committing long-term. The condensed version of the style guide I give my editor: • The first five seconds need a spoken hook, a different text hook, and something visual. • Cuts and quick zooms should match how I talk. • Use real screenshots, photos, and my footage before generic stock. • Keep captions white, all caps, and readable. • Every effect needs a reason. Skip slow zooms, bounce effects, swipe transitions, typewriters, and asset piles that make the point harder to follow.
