If I could go back and start Muay Thai all over again I’d definitely do a few things differently… 🤣 Shadow box more!!! I used to get soooooo embarrassed shadow boxing and hated it but I actually kind of enjoy it now and I realise how important it is to work on your rhythm and just feeling comfortable with the basics! Eat more! This one speaks for itself 🤣 I thought eating less would somehow make me perform better and all I wanted was to be smaller and smaller. I was barely eating 1000 cals a day and wondering why I felt rubbish most the time!! I wouldn’t rely on Muay Thai alone for better cardio! It definitely improves your fitness, but I wish I’d knew sooner that for Muay Thai you need so much more than just a good aerobic base. A bit of structured conditioning alongside it goes a long way!! Train less! I used to think id improve quicker if I just trained more but looking back I would’ve taken more rest days when I needed them and focused more on actually recovering. I wouldn’t be afraid to strength train!! I wish I’d started lifting properly years earlier. All I wanted was to be smaller and somehow thought strength training would make me bulky and slow me down, when in reality it’s been one of the biggest things that’s improved my performance.
