@brettherronsa: #greenscreen Mark Burke is the DA’s Federal Finance Chairperson and their Spokesperson on Finance - the person meant to hold Treasury and the Reserve Bank to account in Parliament. He was also Chairman of Kastelo. A High Court judgment (28 July 2026) confirmed the Reserve Bank had reasonable grounds to suspect Kastelo of an illegal scheme to move money offshore. On Kastelo’s own court papers: 891 clients, capable of moving almost R10 billion a year through personal savings and investment allowances. R4 billion had already gone out by November 2025 when the Reserve Bank froze the account. How? People earning R15,000 a month were given unsecured loans of R249,000 - sixteen times their salary - to use their names to move the money. Many didn’t know foreign accounts had been opened for them. Kastelo took the Reserve Bank to court to get the funds unlocked. They lost - and were ordered to pay the Reserve Bank’s full legal costs, the scale courts reserve for cases with no merit. The DA’s response so far: refer all questions to Kastelo. South Africa deserves better than silence from the people meant to be watching the money.
