(using the butter while it’s still warm helps create a thinner, crispier cookie.) let the mixture cool for just a minute or two so it isn't hot enough to cook the egg, then whisk in the egg and vanilla until fully combined. fold in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. then fold in chocolate chips. scoop the dough and shape each cookie into a ball.
