@littleseedsco: Ok my first little yap session… breastfeeding moms… help! I’m not sure I’m completely ready to be done breast-feeding but wanted to open up a conversation on how people wean their babies or if their babies wean themselves? Just overall what this process looks likes! Would love to hear your experiences. ❤️ #bre#breastfeedimge#breastfeedingmomeastfeedingjourney #momssupportingmoms #firsttimemom

Go with your own intuition. I weaned when it became overwhelming. I stopped one feeding at a time, the least important one to my baby. We co sleep too so night feedings took a little longer. I always offer milk in replacement.

I wean my first son around age 3. Whenever you are ready that is something between you and your baby. It was very hard when I tried around 1 year old he was not ready and neither did i. You do get kind of a postpartum like hormone wise it was not easy

My girls just naturally stopped caring about nursing. I also just wanted to be done when they were around one so I was fine with transitioning to strictly bottles. I will say the easiest thing for me was pumping enough that I could fill part of the bottle with my breastmilk and part of the bottle was whole milk so it wasn’t a complete change all at one time. It also helps with their tummy getting used to whole milk instead of breastmilk. On a whole other note I hope that you are not feeling like you have to start weaning because of pressure from people asking questions or thinking that being done at one is “normal”

We started right after he turned one! Started with cutting the middle of the night feeds then morning feed and offering a cup of milk instead. His other feeds started getting shorter and shorter and within a week or 2 we were done! Bitter sweet for sure 🥹

I started slowly weaning when I got pregnant again. Currently almost 15 months old and still nursing while slowlyyyy weaning. 😂 for you if you don’t plan to get pregnant again right away, you still have LOTS of time. The AAP recommends nursing until age 2 or beyond. As for HOW to wean do you currently nurse around the clock or on a routine? For me, before weaning I nursed first thing in the morning, before and after each nap, and before bed. I started weaning by cutting the after naps feeds, I’d cut one, then the other (we’re still on 2 naps). We’d just get up and gooooo, distraction was key. It’s been a couple of months, now we’re starting to cut the before nap ones. I’ll cut the first thing in the morning one next, and lastttt will be right before bed.

My girl just turned one and im trying to figure it out myself. No bottles. I feel like she is weaning herself. BLW is going so well. I always have snacks on hand and never skip the main meals. She always wants what I have as well. I feel like she only nurses if she is very tired and before bed. I don't know if she will completely stop on her own.

My son started having a milk protein issue so formula was the only reasonable option. So we stopped around 6 1/2 months, I would just go as long as I could without pumping, and when it became uncomfy I would pump for about 5-10 mins on each boob. I personally had no pain with it, and after a week I was sooo low on supply and after some time it just stopped! I really made sure to have a balanced diet and to go on lots of walks outside to try and balance out the hormone changes

I started when my son was 19 months just like feeding at naps and bed time. By his 2nd bday it was just to bed and that was going fine then I got pregnant and my body dried itself up, I didn’t know that’s what was happened but it was so painful so by 11 weeks pregnant I stopped. My husband had started putting him to bed and that was it 😕 it was hard for me at first bc I was like “I didn’t know my last time was my last time” ya know? Even though the last time I was in tears bc it hurt so much. I just didn’t know that’s I was drying up and he probably wasn’t getting much of anything.
