It really depends on your circumstances , how many people live in your house? How many people are you cooking for? Do you have a dishwasher or are you doing it by hand, how many people live under your roof determines how much food you are preparing, how long it takes, not everything can go in a crockpot! Prep-time in a kitchen where you are chopping, cutting up onions, garlic, slicing tomatoes, cutting up cucumbers, peeling potatoes, etc. its nothing to spend 45 minutes or longer for a family of 4, or five just for prep-time, not even counting the actual cooking time. If you have 1,or two yes its less time. Cleaning and cooking is a full time job. If you are single it’s completely different!

My husband acts like if he loads the diah washer that he needs and award. Cleaning up after him is a full time job. Never puts anything back where it came from will sit empty containers on top of bar inches away from trash can.

Bathtubs showers dusting everyday deep cleaning like all the cabinets inside and out all of that needs to be done yes the surface cleaning vacuum sweep laundry bathrooms that’s surface what about deep cleaning?

I personally did all my own chores and still do.. However when I was married for 25 years he came home one night a week to the island in Seattle area. I repaired all the appliances, mowed two acres of land, raised three kids, cow’s, chicken and pigs plus 1/2 acres of garden plus managed a 4,000 sq foot house and pool. After twenty five years he ran of with his girlfriend leave me with three kids and every thing to manage alone. I have no caregiver and I am in my 80’s.

I’m with ya brother! Dishes washed at the time, not stacked up, laundry when the machine’s full, hung out, collected, dinner prepared early; spuds peeled, veg blanched ready for reheating etc. etc. (Beef currently in the oven!)…. Some young men were not prepared for adulthood properly, chose to ignore it or maybe feel it the partner’s ‘job’!!

What must your cooking be like? I’m a European and do not eat pre-prepared meals out of a box. Everything is cooked from scratch. Do you take multiple children to their activities/clubs/orthodontists/therapists every day/week. Do you supervise your children with their homework. This takes hours sometimes as schools are very demanding. Do you iron your family’s clothes? In what state is your house: beds made, floors clean, windows not grimy. Do you have a demanding job and then have to pick your children up at school, drive them to their sports activities and then help out with homework. Have the feeling you are not comparing what you do with what a lot of overworked women have to do.
