i was HORRIBLY bullied & made fun of for what i looked like & my mom would say this. it always just made me feel misunderstood because i KNEW they weren’t jealous of me- they hated me bc i was weird & fat. it didnt make me full of myself but it did make me feel like i couldnt even talk to my mom about it

It’s the opposite for me; I wish I realized sooner that people actually don’t like you because of jealousy/their own insecurities and it’s not just about looks. Sometimes it’s looks, but it is usually a combination of your intelligence, work ethic, abilities and how other people respond to you.
