@metoffice: Hands up if you’re in the south and you enjoyed waking up to rain this morning! The extraordinary streak of 62 consecutive dry days in Wisley, Surrey has finally been broken. After two months without measurable rain, 1.6mm was collected in a rain gauge on Tuesday night. This follows a remarkably dry and hot summer so far - especially for England and Wales - whilst Northern Ireland and Scotland haven’t been as hot or dry. It also follows a very wet start to the year. Wet winter, dry and hot summer: a sign of things to come?
