We give the cash directly to the steward. Even even doing that for years. Especially since the employees say they don’t receive anything. - we try to leave our room stocked with their favorite items as well.

It’s no different than a resort fee at a marriot or other resort. Cruising is also so cheap anyway just leave it on?

We leave them on, but pay at the end (not pre-pay). Also, we leave some cash in an envelope at the end for our room attendant.

Gratuity should be above what they are already paid. Not a way for the company to pay their employees their standard wage. That is shady in my opinion. If it were me, I would remove them and hand them cash!!

You just said it yourself. If you remove it, they still get paid, by Royal. Leaving it on is doing nothing more than enabling Royal to not pay their wages and putting the onus on the customer to pay. Turn them off and tip generously in cash. There’s no debate.
