When Fox released the first Baywatch teaser in June, he captioned his own post “I dream in slow motion” — a step ahead of the joke before anyone else could make it. The pattern repeats: humour first, then let the physique do the talking. There is no visible run-up here. No gym footage. No caption about a cut or a camp. Amell is 45, cast as Hobie Buchannon, the new Baywatch captain, with the Fox reboot set to premiere in January 2027 opposite a cast largely in its twenties. A role like that usually comes with a documented preparation arc before the first beach scene airs. This wasn’t that. It was a personal boat trip with no production behind it. Amell has been direct about this before. In 2021, when commenters questioned whether his physique had slipped since Arrow, he didn’t quietly correct it off-camera — he posted his measurements on Facebook: 6’1” (1.85m), 208 lbs (94kg) at the time, and said he’d remember to flex next time. Not a transformation. Not a prep window. A body that reads the same whether the cameras are booked or the caption is just a joke. The bait was the collab. The physique was never the punchline.
