@texasgrlspam: young texans are being priced out of homes thanks to low wages ‼️ #texas #texasdemocrats #turntexasblue #austintexas ##texashousingmarket
I’m GenX - my husbeast and I bought our house in 2005 with $1000 down. My millennial sons can’t do the same 😢

Idk maybe try harder 🤷🏻♂️I’m 28 making $75k a year and I’m fine. Watch your spending, save and try to work a job that has growth potential. I didn’t go to college and currently I am in the interview process to go into a role making $120k a year. Again. NO DEGREE. I live in the Austin area around about 45min from downtown Austin

I make 55k and have a house. You don't need the median house. Get a cheaper house and do some repairs.

I’m a Milennial.. still can’t afford a home in Texas. My husband and I have a combined income of 220k and live in Austin. Average price of a home (starter/new build) is about 500k plus the property taxes which are astronomical in Austin. My mom got a home in 2022 and her mortgage went from 2k to almost 3k because of the taxes and she lives out of Austin.

I make 80k and own a home in Austin as a millennial. The only way I'm able to afford a house is because I don't have any dependents or student loan debt. I'm barely making it so I dunno how people with kids or any kind of debt do it.

Baby boomers are mostly retired, I doubt they make up much of the buying faction. Raising minimum wage isn’t going to help that demographic qualify for housing loans. Maybe a market correction would help and lower property tax.

elder millenial here, last job (currently unemployed and looking) was $22.18/hour and only way I have a house is it was left to me when my grandmother died - and even then it needs $40k in repairs/updates 😭

We make the median salary and live in a suburb of a major city. That’s how.
