@nickpapagorgio731: Does anyone else remember when Coors Beer was illegal in some states? My Dad used to buy it in another state if he traveled. Those were the days! #CoorsBeer #BeerHistory #OldSchoolCool #illegalbeer #unpasteurized
all states east of the Mississippi River if memory serves me correctly.

It was the only beer, not pasteurized and had to be shipped in refrigeration. That was the problem.

Coors beer was never strictly illegal to possess or drink in any U.S. state outside of the federal and state Prohibition eras (which hit Colorado starting January 1, 1916). In the 1970s, Coors was not "illegal" east of Texas or the Mississippi River; rather, the company chose not to sell or license it there.

It was never illegal anywhere, they just didn’t have enough refrigeration trucks to take it more than one or two states away cold. For a long time, they refused to ship it anywhere warm!
