@wheretonextguys: Here’s what you should know to cycle the Shimanami Kaido 🇯🇵🚲👇 📌 Save this for your Japan trip planning, and follow along with us @wheretonextguys for more like this!✨ This was easily one of our favourite experiences in Japan. The Shimanami Kaido is a cycling route that takes you across 6 islands and 7 bridges, all with insane views the entire way. Here’s what you should know before you go: 🚲 Start in Onomichi, finish in Imabari We rented bikes in Onomichi and returned them in Imabari, which made the whole route super straightforward. 🎒 Forward your luggage We sent our big backpacks ahead and just rode with daypacks, it made a huge difference. 🛏 Split it over 2 days We stayed overnight on Omishima Island, which gave us time to actually enjoy the ride instead of rushing it. 🗺 Plan your route ahead of time There are a few different route options, so grab a map in Onomichi the night before. ⚠️ Follow the road lines The route is marked, but it’s easy to miss turns if you’re not paying attention. ✨ Why it’s worth it The coastal views, quiet towns, and riding across those massive bridges… it’s something you don’t really experience anywhere else.
