Tyronne Brazille, 50, of Baton Rouge, was stopped by police in downtown Memphis, Tennessee, for an alleged traffic violation. During the stop, officers discovered his wife, 50-year-old Lanessa Bradford, dead in the passenger seat from an apparent gunshot wound, according to CBS affiliate WREG. Police allege Brazille had traveled across several states with Bradford’s body before he was pulled over. Officers took him into custody and booked him as a fugitive. Shelicka Decker, a longtime friend of the couple, told WREG that Bradford had been experiencing marital problems and was preparing to leave her husband. According to Decker, Bradford planned to quietly leave behind her vehicle and belongings and relocate with help from relatives outside the area. Decker also alleged that Brazille had previously threatened to kill Bradford or himself if she tried to leave and said the relationship had recently become physically abusive. Bradford worked at an elementary school, and concerned colleagues reportedly requested a welfare check after she failed to show up for work for several days. Decker described the circumstances surrounding her friend’s death as heartbreaking, saying she was stunned by the allegation that Brazille traveled for such a long distance with Bradford’s body beside him. Brazille is expected to appear in a Memphis courtroom Monday before potentially being extradited to Louisiana. WREG reports that he is expected to face a murder charge in connection with Bradford’s death.
