I been taking metformin 500mg extended release for prediabetes for a few years. Only symptoms I experienced was metallic taste and dizziness. I have heard this med is hard on the kidneys long term.

Metformin made me shit myself. I stopped taking it and my sugar is consistently 300 or better 😩

I developed Wernikes Syndrome after only 3 wks on it. Hospitalized for 2 wks, rehab 1 mth, home 2 wks. Lost my job. Get your vitamin B levels checked if you are taking it.
