I agree. But whether you live together before getting married or not, people can change in the blink of an eye. The person you know today may not be the same person you know tomorrow and relationships can change for so many different reasons. One of the biggest changes can be having children. Kids can completely change a relationship and can change people too. Mothers go through so many physical and hormonal changes, while also making huge sacrifices and often putting themselves last. Sometimes that can lead to exhaustion, frustration or even resentment towards their partner. Dads can also experience pressure, especially from the financial responsibility and the feeling of having to provide for their family. All of these things can put a huge strain on a relationship and sometimes change someone in ways you never expected. So, I guess what I’m trying to say is pray for your relationship to survive every stage of life. Communicate with your partner, do mental checks in. Pray that as life changes, you both continue to grow together rather than grow apart and that the person you fell in love with doesn’t change for the worse.

it’s a hard one bc as Christian’s - living with someone before marriage does not directly corroborate the word of God. It (almost always) opens the door to fornication and defiling the marital bed before the couple is officially recognised as man and wife, so what really is the point?

Statistics have often shown an association between premarital cohabitation and higher divorce rates, although that doesn’t prove cohabitation itself causes divorce. Personally, I would rather wait until marriage because I believe marriage should be the commitment that comes before building a shared household

Unfortunately I agree. I was originally against cohabiting too. But until you do it, you finally realise how different your relationship can be, and that’s often the shock people feel the first few years in their marriage. Religion can’t consistently be used as an excuse here when at this decision can mean life or no life. ESPECIALLY as a woman.

It’s a hard one as a Christian but I definitely agree with this sorry😭 living with my now husband during the engagement period made me even more certain about the commitment of marriage. To find out you don’t thoroughly enjoy living with someone after committing to till death do us part is very risky distins!
