I may not know much or I havent done any research but I keep getting the feeling that Max is always eating too fast and swallowing because he wants to eat as much before say "leave it". thats how I feel sha. just sharing my thoughts.

If you want Max to eat slowly you can get him this type of bowl with partitions. It comes in various shapes and sizes. But I do not even think he needs it. You might as well leave him to eat in peace. I observed that he is very obedient and respects your commands so I think you need to reward him occasionally so he doesn’t become docile. I also feel your interruptions intimidates him and prompts him to rush his food because he thinks you will come for him and change your mind. Also some dogs rush their foods when they are made to eat in the presence of other dogs.
