The vascularity comes back after the deep dermal layers fully heal (which takes longer than two weeks) so long as you don’t quit the gym. The initial swelling only lasts 1-2 weeks, but full healing of the deeper layers of skin can take over a month.

normal tattoos don’t damage the veins, arteries, or major vessels underneath your skin. Why ∙ Tattoo needles only reach the dermis (roughly 1–4mm deep), well above the larger blood vessels used for things like IV access or that bodybuilders talk about when they say “vascularity.”
