Same happened to my mom and aunt. Difference is, the guy told them that they gonna receive an extra R500 every month from SASSA. And he was from Emerald Life. They deducted R200 from my mom and aunt's pension, for 2 months. SASSA couldn't help us to stop the debit order. Luckily we eventually got hold of EMERALD LIFE head office in Cape Town and the policies was cancelled. Shame on them. I wonder if people who do this to the elderly have parents😡😡😡😡

sassa don't give food parcel. that comes from social development dept and you have to go to the office so your name can go on the list for parcels. social development office is normally in same building as sassa, but it does not come from sassa. so that red flag number 1 and you have to go to the office to apply, they will never come to your house only to deliver the food parcel

My mother is a pensioner and i told her years ago do not give id or any personal details over the phone or through the gate cz you should let people in if you don't know them even if they are from the government and also if someone sends you a message saying you got a parcel plz collect but pay this amount...scam. Scams are everywhere people please be careful and the mostly target the old people

it happened to my mom also they promised a free parcel she had to stand with her idi and then they deducted the R200 from her sassa and I immediately phone the one life insurance to cancel the insurance.
