WHAT DID I ACTUALLY WATCH?! 😩 MELIZA CAMPOS-SANCHEZ — WHAT HAPPENED? I went to her Instagram after hearing about this case and found the videos investigators are talking about. So here’s the timeline, based on the information currently being reported. 📍 BEFORE AUGUST 16 • Campos-Sanchez and her husband were experiencing marital problems and were separated. • Her husband had been staying with his parents while the children remained with their mother. • According to investigators, he contacted law enforcement the week before the fire because he was concerned about the children. • He also reportedly told investigators about a previous incident involving Campos-Sanchez and concerns about her harming herself. 🔥 AUGUST 16 — THE KITCHEN FIRE • Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded to the home for a kitchen fire. • Investigators determined the fire had been intentionally started using an open flame, an ignitable liquid and combustible material. • Campos-Sanchez had recorded herself starting the fire and posted the video to Instagram. • In the video, she is dancing in the kitchen while liquid is poured onto clothing before it is lit. • According to her daughter’s statement, the two children were inside the home in the laundry room next to the kitchen when the fire was started. • The daughter reportedly told investigators that Campos-Sanchez eventually put the fire out using a bowl of water. 🕯️ THE WAX VIDEOS • Investigators also located video of Campos-Sanchez melting candle wax and pouring it onto herself. • According to her daughter, Campos-Sanchez later brought the girls into the kitchen and poured hot wax onto them. 👮‍♂️ POLICE RESPONSE • Her estranged husband reportedly learned about the videos through one of her friends and contacted police. • Authorities responded to the home. • The children were placed with their father. • Campos-Sanchez was taken to a hospital and was reportedly unable to be interviewed at that time. 🚔 AUGUST 17 Campos-Sanchez was arrested. She faces charges including: • First-degree arson • Child abuse • Two counts of child neglect One important distinction: the information publicly reported so far does not establish that she intended to harm the children with the kitchen fire.
