as a māori, something that makes me so mad is hearing white australians speak about how much they LOVE māori culture and the haka, just for them to turn around and hate on aboriginal culture. love and support my cousins always ❤️

Another thing most people don’t know; Before the Europeans came to Australia, Aboriginals had shared a long historical relationship with Muslims. This relationship included peaceful trade, cultural exchange, intermarriage and spiritual blending across northern and central Australia. I just found this out and it blew my mind, working on making people aware of the history they don’t teach us! ❤️

Do you know Sweden schools learns more about Aboriginal people than Australian schools made me sooo sad seeing as another country knows more about the history than kids today.

I remeber in the 9th grade when my teacher asked the class what an "Australian" looks like, and most of the class agreed on. Black curly hair Tan/dark skin Dark eyes and the teacher was shocked that we didn't say "pale skin, blue eyes and blonde hair" I thought that was an interesting difference in generations

I'm not indigenous but I think we need to normalise Aboriginal people at the stereotypical Australian rather than white Australians. The fact they aren't already who people think of when someone says "Australian" perplexes me. They're literally THE oldest culture in the world and people don't give them an eighth of the recognition and respect they deserve
