Before placing the chicks, I prepare the floor and litter, create the brooding area, set up access to feed and water, and preheat the brooder so the environment is ready when the chicks arrive. The first day might look simple from the outside, but this is where the foundation of the entire flock begins. Every chick needs to be able to: 🐥 Reach warmth 💧 Find clean water 🌾 Find feed 🛌 Rest comfortably 🌬️ Stay in a suitable environment And as the chicks grow, the setup will need to change with them. This is Day 1 of 36.
