Sephora is on Rakuten right now at up to 12% cash back. Rakuten is a free cash back platform. You click through their app before you shop and they pay you a percentage of what you spend. The 12% is makeup specifically — skincare and other non-excluded items earn 6%. Don't take the cash. Link your Amex in your Rakuten account settings and switch your payout to Membership Rewards. Now 12% cash back becomes 12x points. New to Rakuten? Sign up with my link in bio for 5,000 bonus points after your first qualifying purchase. This gets even crazier if you also have a Chase Sapphire. Chase is paying 10x through Paze, their online checkout wallet, and Sephora qualifies. Turn it on in the Chase app → Manage Accounts → Digital Wallets, then choose Paze at checkout. Sapphire Preferred, Reserve, and Freedom cards are eligible. $1,500 monthly cap, live through 12/31/26. Paying with Chase doesn't cost you the Rakuten points, because Rakuten pays on your click-through, not your card. ✅ Online, $1,500 of makeup through Paze 18,000 MR (Rakuten 12%) + 15,000 UR (Paze) + 1,500 UR (base earn) = 34,500 points → 23x Shopping in person anyway? Rakuten still pays 4% in-store, up from 2%. Activate it in the In-Store tab and pay with the card you linked there. And Amex has an Amex Offer for Sephora: +5 Membership Rewards points per dollar, in-store only, capped at 1,500 points, so $300 maxes it out. ✅ In-store, $300 on the Amex 1,500 MR (Amex Offer) + 1,200 MR (Rakuten 4%) + 300 MR (base earn) = 3,000 points → 10x Online is the stronger play. Going from 4% to 12% is worth more than the Amex Offer is. In-store is for when you actually need to swatch it. One catch: only use coupon codes listed on Rakuten.
