@ellequii: We are all capable of change and we shouldn’t try to hide our mistakes, we are all constantly learning! #horses#equine#equestrian#horseriding
hey I don't own a horse of my own but I ride a lesson Barn and I ride a pony that bucks when I am on him and they just call it "attitude" but I've been thinking otherwise could you share an opinion on this? (photo for example (

As someone who’s broken a lot of horses it’s so important to take the horse at its own pace. Sometimes it’s 2 weeks otherwise it’s 2 months. Individual training is key. But also if they see a dentist and physio first to eliminate any pain associated issues

🙌🏼 hooray for taking responsibility and changing ways. real growth. I luckily had a good start with a very good trainer. so I was 14 when we got a 1,5 year old. 2 years later we started with riding. because we had her for so long and played with her and already put blankets on or just a pad. with 3 we started with real saddle.. everything went slow because she was so young. she thought everything was a fun game. never bucked, never reared and never had a bad experience with handling. When I was older and did my internships at different stables i was kind of shocked. the video shows what was 'normal' . so yeah I took longer to saddle break a horse then average. im so happy to see that this starts to change.

Starting my first young horse was the most anti climactic thing ever, soon realised previous horses I saw being broken were being done an injustice

I don't cringe I am in awe and inspired. I say look at me look where I started and look how I have grown and learned and completely changed my thinking and my way with horses. you cringe because you know better now but don't cringe celebrate yourself and your growth alot of people don't experience that and get stuck with the not nice methods.

We only know what we know until we learn differently. Be kind to yourself and each other. Horsey people can be way too judgy.

my boys first time wearing full tack, I believe he was 18 months to 2 years old he wasn't ridden until he was 4.
I put things on him slowly so he was comfortable with them. I ignored all horse trainers and did what felt right for us, he was the second horse I backed myself.

I've been backing my two 4 year olds and my 2 year old decided he wanted to try on the roller so this is what happened. absolutely nothing because he's not traumatised

you know what? anyone who’s had horses for more than 5 mins will say “you never stop learning”….. and this is why! because life experience isn’t documented in a book. When you know better, you do better! 🥰 Not everything works for every horse. Not everything works for every rider…. Experience allows you to pivot when the approach wasn’t right and that’s just what you’ve done 💕 thank you for being honest!

I have a 3 yrd Welsh I've owned since 5months old, 8 rides and hacks out solo in open fields with the odd nap. His ground work started from day one why people don't realise you have to put the work in slowly
