Milk was the person Love called after every bad day, the one who kept her safe, held her hand through heartbreak, and knew every secret flaw she kept hidden from the world. Milk was Love's entire foundation. Indispensable, irreplaceable, and entirely invisible. Her phone vibrated in her hand. Milk’s chest tightened as she checked the notification, hoping it was an answer to her text from three hours ago: "Let me know when you get home safely." It wasn't a reply. It was an Instagram notification. Love had just posted a story: a photo of two wine glasses at a downtown bar, captioned with a soft cursive font: “he remembered my favorite drink :)” Milk stared at the screen until it went dark.
