Leaving school early, changing your schedule, or making major decisions because a coach says, “Trust me,” can affect more than one season. If there’s no offer, no NIL deal, no scholarship in writing, and no guaranteed roster spot, you better make sure you’re protecting your education too. Coaches can believe in you. Coaches can advocate for you. But at the end of the day, you and your family have to protect your future. Play ball. Chase the dream. Bet on yourself. But don’t sacrifice something permanent for a promise that can change with one injury, one coaching change, or one season.
