Since everyone knows everything about oil here’s this, the US is the number one producer of crude oil and natural gas. However we don’t have any way to refine them in the US due to environmental regulations as well as the oil we produce is thinner than oil from places like Canada and Iran so based on machinery and technology most of the world cannot us it as effectively as they can from the thicker oil that’s why Iran has taken the world hostage bc most of the world relies on the straight of Hormuz being open. The US also needs the thicker oil for things like production factories and older machines. We do not rely on Canada fully we have many sources of refined oil but it’ll will most likely be gained quicker and cheaper if we use Canadian oil. Canada and much of the world relies on the US whether it is economically, militarily, or being allies so by trump putting hard tariffs on counties it will encourage and most likely result in jobs in specific sectors to increase due to the new demand so in theory tariffs, oil, and protection would increase revenue for the US. Practically this current interpretation depends on where you stand politically
