@jeeves_ny: Laundry sanitizers are still new enough that most people don't know how valuable they are, or how to use them correctly, so here's the breakdown. Proof first: Field of Focus tested Lysol's laundry sanitizer three years ago and wiped out bacteria on filthy bathroom and kitchen towels. I reached out to both Clorox and Lysol for this one. Clorox declined, so today it's Lysol Two ways to use it right: Method one, the easy way: two caps in the rinse dispenser slot (where fabric softener goes). Rinse cycle needs to run at least 16 minutes, so use a sanitize cycle or add an extra rinse. Still use detergent in its own slot, never mix the two. Method two, the foolproof way: not sure your machine hits 16 minutes? Two capfuls in a gallon of cold water, soak 15 minutes, rewash. The 99.9% bacteria and virus kill claim only holds if you follow the exact protocol, which is why the specifics matter. No chlorine bleach, so it's safe on colors and light garments. Can't be used on wool, silk, or dry clean only pieces. I use this for odor removal and it's one of the few laundry "extras" I actually think is worth it. If your gym clothes and sports gear won't quit stinking, try it. #LaundrySanitizer #Laundry #SanitizeClothes

Companies refusing to answer your questions makes me not want to give them my money. What do they have to hide? 🤔

Clorox changed their claims, I believe they’re just called odor removers and not sanitizer anymore

I love Lysol laundry sanitizer because it it keeps the funk away if I leave the clothes in a little bit longer when I get busy and it keeps the washer from getting stinky.

I use the Lysol one as a pre soak for my sons wrestling gear. It kills all the wrestling funk and is key to stopping the spread of things like ringworm and impetigo.

is there a more efficient method for the soak method if you're doing a full load in a college dorm?

I have a top loader and the two capfuls was almost the whole bottle. I love using it but it’s pricey

I like to add the 2 caps to my very basic top load rinse cycle once the lid unlocks, let it swish around a bit, and then pause the washer and set a 16 minute timer to un-pause. A lil more hands on but works for me :)

As a potty training parent, we love the Lysol sanitizer! It’s great for all of the soiled bedding and underwear. Daycare would send soiled clothes home in a sealed plastic bag and by the time we got to washing it, the smell would remain even after cleaning. Adding the sanitizer has completely fixed that.
