@wovenawaytours: Sunburnt & tired, mentally + physically after 42+ years of being stuck with my low-effort lazy family. Don't be like me, girls ! My brothers Insta· thesquatney (@thesquatney) if you're curious about what a self-absorbed dusty looks like & their energy PS: they don't care about youuuu #sister #daughter #freedom #desigirl #muslimah
This is really sad. My mum has 6 of us girls, no sons and we all play different roles for my mum. Everyone always told my mum that she is so unlucky to have only girls and no sons and her destiny is bad but she has all her daughters and their kids visiting her on a weekly basis whilst there’s some women with sons who are extremely lonely. In that same breath, after 8 years of living with my in laws and going through emotional mental psychological abuse from them, I finally had the courage to leave and go no contact with my husbands parents January this year. HOWEVER, despite everything they’ve done to me I always encourage my husband to visit them weekly by himself or with my children (depending on whether my husband can handle the kids alone lol) because I don’t believe in blood ties ever being cut. And also as he is their only son, he must must always be there and take care of his parents. That’s his Islamic duty and he must fulfil it. I really hope he can do more for his parents as they get older. And I hope my children can see this as an example and help take care of their grandparents when they’re older too.

Yep I can relate to all of this. Deep down our families don’t want the daughters to get married because of cost (even tho we have to pay for weddings ourselves) and then they lose useful people around the house as the sons are just far too busy to do anything (but have time and money for multiple relationships with girls)

A very common sis. Everyone just abandoned my mum when my father passed away but alhumdulilah, you know what, we have all the wonderful and irreplaceable memories. The worst part was that, they didnt comment her funeral too so hey ho…

I had to give up my managerial job prior to my mum passing away and when we thought she would come home as my siblings wouldn't look after my dad for dementia for one day..I asked my sister to look after my dad for 2 days during the day while I was at work until I was on 2 weeks annual leave and she tried to put him in respite. When our mum passed away a couple of months later, my siblings just slandered me to everyone about crazy untrue things but did not lift a finger to help me look after my dad.

Off topic but if your parents are born abroad and you were born here, your first generation not second.

if you've looked after your mother for the remainder of her life then you should inherit whatever she has to pass on in this world. if you haven't married then I would say get married and don't put yourself on hold and still care for your mother as best as you can

They made their decisions. You made yours. There is no moral/cultural/religious duty for your brothers to buy you a house. If you’re unhappy with looking after your parents, you can stop. It’s everyone’s responsibility to make provisions for their old age.

You are doing a great job babe. All of this is very hurtful, a trauma that you will not heal or recover from. But when its over (horrible to say), you will be holding your head up high and duas from your parent. Don’t look back. Haven’t spoken to them for over 7 yrs. my mum had dementia and deep set trauma after my father’s passing.

my uncle went through similar thing with his mum and I can already see that this will be me. I'm male though. I have 2 siblings who don't even clean and would argue. but my mum would still prefer them over me. is very hard countless of appointments I didn't have a life for myself. but things have gotten better alhamdulilah. I know it's hard but just put in your mind that the useless ones don't exist. God appointmented you to take care of your mother and there's Hugh blessings in that. They will be questioned about how they took care of their parents. so leave the matter with God. you will also need a break. so pay someone to look after her if possible especially when you really need a break. go away for a week or two or even a weekend doesn't have to be abroad can be near a beach somewhere to refresh your mind.
