There’s many players that are not athletes who do well lol… Bruno, Vitinha , silva , tielemens, Henderson, Bruno, tonali and etc. not every players is some explosive beast lol. The ball is the most athletic thing on that pitch and if you know how to manipulate it you’ll be a machine! And forgot to mention pedri and Arda Guler

Being technically gifted will always be the biggest thing at the top level so obviously he would still compete. The likes of Bernardo Silva or Odegaard aren't exactly insanely physical or huge in stature 🤔

Scholes would be even better in today’s game as midfielders have more specific roles. Back in Scholes days he had to do everything. In today’s game they’d just stick a couple of athletic midfielders around him and let him do his thing in possession.
