Riley has been asleep since 7:30. I should be sleeping. I know I should be sleeping. But instead I’m lying here wide awake, listening to every little sound and wondering when he’s going to wake up. Because after enough broken nights, it’s hard to completely switch off. Even when the baby is sleeping. Your body is tired, but your brain is still on duty. Is that him? Was that a noise? How long have I been asleep? How many hours do I have left? And then there’s the thought I hate admitting… What if I fall asleep now and he wakes up five minutes later? So I lie here. Tired. Waiting. Trying to enjoy the quiet while also being afraid to fully relax into it. I think that’s one of the less talked-about parts of broken sleep. Sometimes it’s not just the wake ups that exhaust you. It’s the anticipation of them. The feeling that you’re always waiting for the next cry. And tonight, instead of scrolling through sleep advice or trying to work out what I’m doing wrong, I looked at the little lights. Mums awake all over the world. Some with babies who are already awake. Some waiting for their next wake up. Some probably lying in bed just like me, hoping they’ll get a decent stretch tonight. And for some reason, seeing that makes me breathe a little deeper. Because I’m not the only mum lying awake while her baby sleeps. I’m not the only one whose body hasn’t quite learnt that it’s safe to switch off. I’m not the only one hoping for a longer stretch tonight. So I’m going to try to put my phone down. Close my eyes. And hopefully get some sleep before that little voice calls me again. And if he does wake up… I’ll be there. One wake up at a time. 💛 #newmom #momlife #postpartum #motherhood #momcommunity

@anitta O novo álbum de Anitta, **
#anitta #anittacy #equilibrivm
