I saw Mississippi Kween make her Dirty Rice yesterday and knew immediately what we were having for dinner. 😂 She warned that every time she makes it, somebody from Louisiana tells her that ain’t how you make Dirty Rice. Well, this Louisiana girl made it her way tonight and Y’ALL. It was absolutely phenomenal. One of the best Dirty Rice recipes I’ve ever had. I changed a couple little things because apparently I’m incapable of following a recipe exactly, but this one is a KEEPER. 😂🙌🏼 Mississippi Kween’s Dirty Rice, My Version Ingredients * 2 (16 oz.) rolls Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage, 1 hot + 1 regular * 2 small onions, diced * 1 bell pepper, diced (I used yellow) * 4 stalks celery, diced * 1 heaping Tbsp minced garlic * About 1½ Tbsp garlic powder * About 1½ Tbsp onion powder * About 1½ Tbsp chili powder * About 1½ Tbsp paprika * Black pepper, to taste * Knorr Beef Bouillon Powder, to taste (I used this instead of salt) * Cayenne Pepper to taste (optional) * A little olive oil * Cooked rice, enough to mix with the sausage mixture * Beef broth, for cooking the rice Directions: Add a little olive oil to a large pan. Add sausage, onion, bell pepper, celery and garlic. As the sausage begins to brown, add garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, black pepper and Knorr beef bouillon. Season it GOOD because all that flavor has to carry over into the rice. 😂 Cook until the sausage is completely done and the vegetables are soft. Meanwhile, cook your rice however you normally do. I cooked mine in beef broth instead of water for extra flavor. Once everything is done, mix the cooked rice into the sausage mixture until you have the amount of meat-to-rice ratio you like. THAT’S IT. And y’all… it was absolutely phenomenal. Recipe inspired by Mississippi Kween. I made a couple little tweaks to mine.
