I'm form Latvia, and there's genuinely Russians cussing out cashiers if they don't speak or understand Russian, some are even preaching that "oh putin will come save us" some have lived here for their entire lives and don't know a lick of our language, I genuinely can't stand going to some towns and all I hear is Russian everywhere

I just visited all 3 Baltic states and was surprised by how widely Russian is still spoken, especially in Latvia where so many locals speak Russian almost exclusively—even though Latvian is a unique Baltic language with remarkably ancient grammatical roots.

One minor correction about Estonia. The school system is not yet fully in estonian, they are implementing it slowly starting from elementary school and its projected to be fully in estonian by 2030. The whole process also has a lot of issues in the country as we don't have enough teachers who would be able to teach in estonian, especially in the eastern regions with a bigger russian population.

As latvian of russian descent, i absolutely believe that the language repression politics just built a lot of resentment, to the point, that even if you're the most pro-western russian there is, you never feel accepted or as a real part of your own country.

As a Latvian who was born in a Russian-speaking family (descendants from pre 1940's Latgalian region which historically had a lot of different cultures/ethnicities) this a is a great video with a lot of the nuances taken into account. Personally I think that the percentage of Russians will fall down significantly in the nearest 10-20 years due to the new generations primarily becoming more pro Western and learning the official language which opens up opportunities for discussions with more people, therefore access to more information that they can absorb and evaluate.
