@glitchgestaltgirl: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the perfect example of a story with a female driven narrative vs. a female lead character if you compare the differences between the Swedish and American adaptations. #girlwiththedragontattoo #screenwriting #filmmaking #characterstudy #TikTokAdaptationContest

America loves remaking better films and dumbing them down for the American audience

Yes yes yesss, the Swedish Blomkvist was so much more compelling a character the way he respected her and allowed her to remain her own person.

That’s why the Swedish version is a trilogy rather than one movie that bombed horribly.

Let the Right One In is my favorite example of how different American films tell the same story.

The woman in the Swedish version is also one of my favorite actresses of this age.

And the look itself. The Swedish actress looks so much more powerful compared to the American one.

the part that always gets me is that "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" is the English localised name of the book and for the Fincher film. The book's original title, which the Swedish film used originally too, is "Men Who Hate Women." It's really emblematic of how Lisbet's character has been mishandled, sadly :(

People who run board rooms, changing art to try and sell to more people. Funny how they always know exactly how to suck the soul out of something.

Why did I immediately know the American version would be the male centric one without knowing either movie or the book when you pointed it out?
