Roman Ball :
I didn't confuse biological limitations with difficulty, I explained how biological limitations result in a higher level of difficulty. By limiting the time span in which a person is able to reach their theoretical max potential via a biological mechanism, Rocket League forces players to max out their skill in the short time-frame where they are physiologically viable to reach their peak. The limitation isn't the difficulty itself, but it lends itself to the difficulty by setting a hard deadline that an aspiring player must abide by. I don't believe there are any examples of Pros with 4K hours, Zen had clocked 7K hours when he made his debut as a 16 y/o. Secondly, you acknowledged the point that I made, but you moved the goalpost. You had originally claimed that Chess' difficulty was due to it's huge number of possible outcomes, hence your nod to the interesting fact that there are more outcomes than there are atoms in the universe. I rebutted that Rocket League actually has more outcomes (objectively true) due to the fact that there are dozens of micro adjustments every second of each game leading to astoundingly more variations in RL than chess. Even with plays that are repeated frequently, such as an attacker dribbling the ball towards a defender, there has never once been two instances of the exact same play happening down to the finest detail. So as for the raw amount of outcomes from a "purely statistical perspective" as you would say, this point is moot. RL takes the win in this aspect. Now, as for strategic complexity, I will admit that Chess does pull significantly ahead of Rocket League in this regard. I never claimed otherwise. What I did claim is that Rocket League's strategical significance is much higher than what people admit it is due to the amount of possible outcomes and microplays that are constantly happening. So while the statistical level may not be quite as high as Chess' is, it's high enough that when paired with one of the highest mechanical requirements of any game as well as the short window of opportunity, Rocket League pulls ahead of Chess in terms of total difficulty.
