At a conference a couple years ago I learned about BestyBnB, which helps agencies facilitate confidential foster homes for those going through crisis. Super cool program! My facility just also secured funding for a renovation that should allow us to house pets for those leaving DV and I cannot wait!

I left my former husband of 18yrs because I feared for my animals safety. He was abusive to me and not nice to esp one of our dogs. Glad that’s behind me. Awesome to hear about saf-t.

in the UK if you are stuck and need your pets safe you can contact Dogs Trust they will put your pet in a home until you are safe and can get them back.

Im sure it's heartbreaking to learn about these type of things but its so necessary in order to hopefully stop or prevent it. Then have the knowledge on how to properly process it so they can be held accountable without getting off on a technicality.

I am one of the children that formed emotional connection to my dog when my patents were abusing my older brother. They would put us (me & patchy) outside and crank the stero to drown out his screams and crying. He unalived himself two days after last beating. I have been crazy attached to all my pets, chose them over men multiple times. single by choice now. Thanks for sharing, this is important To understand. ♥️

in Louisville the humane society has a safe haven program where they work with a women's shelter to help domestic violence survivors get back on their feet. ive fostered a few of these dogs and was so happy they got to go back home

I know that in Carson City, NV if you are escaping a DV situation, you can contact Nevada Humane Society and they will board your animal for a period of time (I think it’s 10 days and then you can apply for an extension). It’s not a long term solution but can help until you can find another safe place for them.

I just know this job would absolutely wear me out. Thank you for doing what you do and continuing to educate yourself (mandatory or not) there are plenty of people who just chose skate by doing the bare minimum. You’re an amazing person and these animals are lucky to have you! 🙏🏼

Yeah my niece's dad 🔫 a dog in front of her and her siblings on multiple occasions for no reason other than to cause harm. The little dashound that got 🔫 in the head surprisingly survived
