Socially, it was like night and day for me when I took my ADHD meds in middle school. When I took my meds, I found it SO much easier to make and keep friends. Without them, I was constantly getting into trouble at school and suffered socially because of that.

Thank you for sharing! I relate so much with this! My son is severely ADHD and by 1st grade, we had tried all other avenues and decided on medication. It’s a constant process observe and adjust but he’s in 4th grade now and excelling in academics and social relationships. I don’t see how we would have gotten here without some pharmaceutical help.

I have a friend who thinks her child has adhd but won’t get them evaluated and it is so frustrating to me. It only does her child and her other children a disservice. She is constantly telling me about how she is so overwhelmed with his behavior and he’s always fighting with his siblings. She’s the kind of person to “wait and see” and believes that kids with just grow out of certain behaviors or health things. News flash. They don’t. She waited until her oldest was 7-8 before she took him to the dr for his sleep apnea and breathing issues. She believes her kids would grow out of their speech problems and never considered speech therapy until the school recommended it because THEY were worried about other kids bullying her kids.

My niece’s Mom is totally against it and I get it. She’s just had so much trouble with bullying, and socialization throughout school. She is starting 5th grade this year.
