Your friend has already posted “Congratulations!” 🎉 And you’re still seeing “Not Admitted.” Before you start thinking the worst, don’t just keep refreshing CAPS. Find out where you actually stand. 1️⃣ HAS YOUR SCHOOL STARTED RELEASING ADMISSION? This is the first question you should answer. Don’t judge your situation based on what another school is doing. Check your school’s official admission portal and official announcements to know whether admission has started and what stage the process is currently at. 2️⃣ HOW COMPETITIVE IS YOUR COURSE? Be realistic about this. Some courses receive far more applications than others. So don’t compare your admission timeline with someone who applied for a completely different course. A student in one department may receive admission before another department, even within the same institution. 3️⃣ DID YOU MEET THE REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUR SCHOOL AND COURSE? Go back and check. Don’t just assume that because you scored well in JAMB, everything else automatically falls into place. Check the requirements for your institution and your chosen course and make sure you met them. 4️⃣ IS YOUR O’LEVEL INFORMATION CORRECT WHERE REQUIRED? This is something students sometimes overlook. Make sure the O’Level information you submitted or uploaded is correct and properly reflected where your institution or JAMB requires it. If you know there’s an issue, don’t ignore it and hope it will somehow disappear. Get it clarified. 5️⃣ ARE YOU CHECKING BOTH YOUR SCHOOL PORTAL AND JAMB CAPS? Don’t depend on only one. Your school’s admission portal may provide information about your institution’s process, while JAMB CAPS is where you check your JAMB admission status. Make it a habit to check the right platforms and follow official instructions. ⚠️ MOST IMPORTANTLY… Don’t make a major decision because you’re tired of waiting. Don’t suddenly change your course. Don’t change your institution. And don’t pay someone who tells you they can “force” admission onto your CAPS. First understand what is happening with your application. Sometimes the biggest mistake isn’t failing to get information. It’s acting on the wrong information. So before you panic tonight, go back and check these five things properly.
