I think what “establishment” dems, or at least the political commentator class, are not accounting for is voter fatigue in a sense. For ten years now regular people have seen performative “resist” actions to the point where it’s almost looked at as unserious behavior. For ten years we’ve had “mueller she wrote” and “Jo from jerz” and “occupy democrats” who don’t do anything but essentially shit post online. We’re tired of saying “resistance” matters but no one is doing anything. And they didn’t do anything when they were given the chance in 2020. Now it’s 2026 and we’re supposed to believe that Schumer, Jeffries, etc can successfully prosecute a real change? And they won’t commit to abolishing ice? We have a literal gestapo police violating the constitution in the streets and not a single one of these people will even call for their cancellation? That’s not someone you can trust. Voters are smarter and more tuned in than we are given credit
