Hi. Yt woman in NWI, here. Yes, we’ve all been without power since the 11th. Some of us lost it on the 13th, had it come back, and then lost it again. Why?! WE DONT KNOW! They won’t tell us. HOWEVER! GARY is massive and has been completely off since the 11th. Someone sh ot at a Nipsco car during restoration attempts so Nipsco paused until more cop reinforcements were present to proceed. Is that true? 🤷♀️No official statements from reliable news sources have been made! Gary is 85% black and has food deserts where people don’t have access to resources. Many yt communities have banded together to exchange generators and other things but no one is showing up for Gary. While none of us are getting news exposure, Gary is definitely being marginalized the most. We have yt privilege working in our favor. They don’t. It’s only best that Gary residents receive the publicity on socials by major influencers as systemic racism is currently working against them.
