It won’t be this season. Even if they are found guilty and points are deducted, they’ll lodge their appeal and the punishment will be suspended. On appeal there’ll need to be an entirely new three person independent panel who will have to review and re-investigate the evidence for every individual charge that they’re found guilty of to ascertain if there was enough evidence to find them guilty and they then also have to review the punishment for each charge as well. According to leading sports lawyers that appeal process will likely take between 12-18 months to be completed so we’re at least two years away from any actual punishments being implemented in the best case scenario.

While it’s true most clubs get a fine or some level of point deduction - City’s case is unheard of in terms of its longevity and number of breaches / along with the fact they have massively benefited from their excessive spending compared to other clubs - a simple fine will just lead to blowback from other clubs
