The only thing that’s giving me anxiety here is your set up. If you’re not going to get a horizontal tank, at least fill this one with way more substrate so it’s less dangerous for her 😭

Hello! I'm sorry to be THAT person:( However you have a wrongly set up enclosure and I want to help. First of all, mesh lids can be dangerous. Their claws can get stuck in there, leaving them hanging, which can lead to bad injuries. I would also highly suggest you to look for a horizontal terrarium. They need floor space, not air space, as they are terrestrial, not arboreal. Definitely would also raise the substrate to being filling at least half of the terrarium. Not only for burrowing if the T needs to but again, in the case of a fall, it provides more cushion. You already have knowledge about tarantulas and falls.

So, couple of things: 1. that’s a male tarantula. It has tibial hooks on its front legs, which means he’s mature and won’t live much longer. 2. That setup is for an arboreal species. Curly hairs are terrestrial. Highly recommend giving him the correct setup with way more substrate so he can enjoy his “twilight years” so to speak.
