I have tmj and was denied by my insurance for a night guard since I grind my teeth and clench my jaw when I sleep. I was told it was $800 to get the night guard 😳

for those of us that have disorders that cause tooth decay I believe that implants should be covered. because a lot of us are not able to eat

Seems like insurances companies should have the foresight to say “hey, maybe if I pay 600$ for a nightguard right now I won’t have to pay 2000$ for crowns in 2 years”

I’m here to just say how impressed I am with depth of your knowledge about whole dentistry especially the administrative aspect of it . I have been in dental field for over 30 years and have never come across a dentist that knows so much in depth about insurance 👏

Great information, especially the tip on nightguards! If an insurance does cover a nightguard it’s sometimes covered 1x per life, which is insane. I think periodic/limited/comp exams shouldn’t share frequency at 2 per calendar/plan year. X-rays should be covered at 100% no matter the plan.

The dentistry industry is a scam. Insurance is largely useless. We need major reforms to make it more like the medical industry to better serve clients and dental professionals I think you are exceptional and reasonable.

I’m an insurance biller for my office. A lot of the time they refuse to pay for a crown, and instead suggest extraction, and then deny the implant 🙃

Don't forget to add posterior composites. Many dental providers avoid amalgam due to environmental concerns when the amalgam needs removed from the tooth. Posterior composites should no longer be considered cosmetic as it is extremely difficult to find a dentist that will place amalgam over resin fillings.
