Hagar had lived with Abraham and Sarah and she definitely know their customs and language hence, she she addressed the angel that spoke to her as one that sees her as El Roi. Moreover, Sarah did not treat Hagar harshly as you said. Hagar was the one who became arrogant because she was pregnant, with the thought that she will be rated above Sarai before Abraham. Gen 16:4 And he went in unto Hagar, and she conceived: and when she saw that she has conceived, her misress was despised in her eyes. ln verse 5 and 6, Sarai complained bitterly to Abraham about Hagar's behaviour, verse 6, and when Sarai dealt harshly with her, she fled from her face. Hagar was never a solution to Abrahams problem, neither a womb to somebody else's promise! for God sake, rather, the devil had used Sarai to push Abraham into doing the wrong, just as he deceived Adam and Eve, with the purpose to divert the birth of lsaac. Verse 9, And the angel of the Lord said unto her, return to thy mistress. and submit thyself under her hands. because she is the one at the wrong. Gen 17 : 18, And Abraham said unto God, oh that Ishmael might live before thee, And God said, Sarah, thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed: and thou shall call his name lsaac: and l will vestablish my covenant with him, for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him. However, lsmael will be blessed for he was of Abrahams seed, vs 21: But, my covenant will l estanlish with lsaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at these set time next year. All the names of God in the bible except 'l am that l am and YHWE' emanates from circumstances that happened to people at a particular times, like God is the God of all and He is righteous in all His ways. Yes, God sees everything that happens especially, in the family of Abraham for He has purposed a covenant with Abraham. The bible should be rightly interpreted Revelation 22:18-19.
